THE LIVING ARCHIVE
About Vrishni
Vrishni belongs to Satvata’s household alongside Andhaka, Devavriddha, Mahabhoja and the other named sons. The family already has an earlier ancestor called Vrishni, Kunti’s son, in the succession leading toward Satvata. This later Vrishni is an individual in the next major branching generation, while the name can also describe a broader Yadava clan.

ROLE & ESSENCE
Attributes & Significance
The family of Anamitra leads to Nighna and his sons Prasena and Satrajit. Their Syamantaka jewel story brings the household into contact with Krishna, Jambavan and Jambavati. The ancestral connection explains the family setting of those events; the jewel’s loss and Krishna’s vindication concern the later people involved.
TRADITION & MEANING
Traditions & Interpretations
Here Vrishni is Satvata’s son. In this account, Anamitra and Shini descend through Sumitra; a parallel genealogy places them under Yudhajit instead. The two versions give different arrangements of the family and are not combined into additional generations.
