THE LIVING ARCHIVE
About Shiteyus
His ancestry leads back through Tamas and Prithushravas to Shashavindu. The family belongs to the line of Kroshtu, Yadu’s son, rather than to the separate Haihaya branch. Ushanas, Shiteyus’s father, is the royal figure in this succession and not the Asura teacher Shukra.

IN THE TRADITION
Recorded Context
ROLE & ESSENCE
Attributes & Significance
The succession places Shiteyus among the older ancestors of Vidarbha’s royal houses. It also distinguishes inherited family history from an individual biography: the horse sacrifices concern Ushanas, while the later marriage story centers on Jyamagha and Shaivya. Shiteyus belongs to the generations connecting those households.
Role
Shiteyus is the son of Ushanas and the father of Rukmakavacha in the Yadava succession. He follows the king credited with a hundred horse sacrifices and precedes the family in which Jyamagha is born.

The selected passage chiefly records his parentage and succession. No separate battle, boon or distinctive weapon is supplied for Shiteyus by that mention.
