About Riksha
In the Vishnu Purana he is Akrodhana’s son and Devatithi’s brother. His own son Dilipa becomes the father of Pratipa. Shantanu is therefore Riksha’s great-grandson. Pratipa’s sons are Devapi, Shantanu and Bahlika, placing this Riksha shortly before a familiar royal generation of the Mahabharata family.

ROLE & ESSENCE
Attributes & Significance
His place links Akrodhana’s branch with the immediate ancestry of Pratipa. It is a distinct later position within the Kuru house, long after the earlier Riksha, Samvarana and Kuru sequence.
TRADITION & MEANING
Traditions & Interpretations
The Bhagavata makes Devatithi his father and Akrodhana his grandfather. In the Vishnu Purana, Devatithi is instead his brother under Akrodhana. Dilipa remains Riksha’s son in both accounts, preserving the continuing branch despite the different ancestry immediately before him.
