About Rantinara
Riteyu, one of Raudrashva’s ten sons, is his father. His own sons are Tansu, Apratiratha and Dhruva in the Vishnu Purana. These relationships place Rantinara at a second branching point after the larger household of his grandfather Raudrashva.

ROLE & ESSENCE
Attributes & Significance
Rantinara’s household contains the common ancestry of the royal branch through Tansu and the learned line through Apratiratha. His sons are brothers; Kanva and Anila belong to their children’s generation, while Dushyanta and Medhatithi occur farther down the respective branches.
TRADITION & MEANING
Traditions & Interpretations
The Bhagavata calls the corresponding ancestor Rantinava and gives his sons as Sumati, Dhruva and Apratiratha. Sumati’s son Rebhi leads to Dushyanta there. The Vishnu Purana instead names Tansu and his son Anila on that royal route.
