Ahuka is a Yadava king and the father of Devaka and Ugrasena. He is the shared grandfather of Devaki and Kamsa, whose families are central to the story of Krishna’s birth.
Original Suvarnaveda painted interpretationTHE LIVING ARCHIVE
Ahuka’s father is Punarvasu and his sister is Ahuki. His ancestry continues through Abhijit and Bhava toward Kukkura, Andhaka and Satvata. The names Kukkura and Andhaka describe his wider ancestral branch, rather than additional members of his immediate household. That household divides through his two sons: Devaka’s children belong to one family, and Ugrasena’s children to the other.

ROLE & ESSENCE
Ahuka’s family explains why people on different sides of Krishna’s birth story remain close royal relatives. The later events involving Devaki, Vasudeva, Kamsa and Ugrasena unfold within this connected network of families.
TRADITION & MEANING
The ancestry here follows a particular account of the Kukkura family. Clan names such as Kukkura and Andhaka cover many descendants over several generations; they should not be treated as names for Ahuka’s immediate children.
