About Ajamidha
His brothers are Dvimidha and Purumidha. Through Riksha, his family continues to Samvarana and Kuru. Through Nilini, he becomes the father of Nila, whose descendants lead to Haryashva and the Panchala families. These are separate branches from one ancestor, not successive names for the same child.

ROLE & ESSENCE
Attributes & Significance
Ajamidha is a useful common point when comparing the later Kuru and Panchala families. Their shared ancestry does not make every Panchala a direct descendant of Kuru; their routes diverge earlier in Ajamidha’s family.
Role
Ajamidha is a Paurava ancestor whose descendants include branches leading to the Kuru house and Panchala. He is one of Hastin’s sons in the Vishnu Purana.
TRADITION & MEANING
Traditions & Interpretations
The Mahabharata arranges some of Ajamidha’s wives and sons differently, while retaining the Riksha–Samvarana connection. The Vishnu Purana explicitly names Nilini as Nila’s mother and continues that branch toward Haryashva. These differences describe alternative household arrangements.
