Puranic / Epic Royal Genealogy · Yadava Royal House
Hridika is a Yadava ancestor and the father of Kritavarman, Shatadhanu, Devamidhusha and other sons. Through Devamidhusha he is the grandfather of Shura, the father of Vasudeva and Pritha.
Original Suvarnaveda painted interpretationTHE LIVING ARCHIVE
His father Svayambhoja belongs to a succession passing through Pratikshatra, Shamin and the earlier Shura toward Viduratha and Bhajamana. Hridika’s household then divides among several sons. Kritavarman, Shatadhanu and Devamidhusha are brothers in this ancestry, not successive fathers and sons. The line leading to Vasudeva continues through Devamidhusha and then the later Shura, whose wife is Marisha.

ROLE & ESSENCE
Kritavarman’s parentage and the descent through Devamidhusha belong to the same household. Keeping the brothers alongside one another makes their relationship clear and preserves the different branches that emerge from Hridika’s family.

TRADITION & MEANING
Another Kritavarman appears earlier among Dhanaka’s Haihaya sons. Hridika’s son is the Yadava Kritavarman; the repeated name does not merge the two men or the separate branches of Yadu’s descendants.
