Satvata’s descendants form several related Yadava branches. One of Satvata’s sons is named Bhajamana, but Andhaka’s son Bhajamana belongs to a later generation. The latter is the ancestor described here. His brothers include Kukkura, Shuchi and Kambalavarhish. Through Viduratha, his family continues along a line separate from the Kukkura ancestry that eventually reaches Ahuka, Devaka and Ugrasena.

ROLE & ESSENCE
The marriages in Krishna’s family join descendants of different Yadava branches. Bhajamana’s line leads toward Vasudeva, while his brother Kukkura’s line leads toward Devaki’s family. The two branches share ancestry through Andhaka.

TRADITION & MEANING
Two generations of the Satvata family contain a Bhajamana. Andhaka as father and Viduratha as son identify this one; the Bhajamana named directly among Satvata’s sons has a different place in the ancestry.
