Original Suvarnaveda painted interpretationTHE LIVING ARCHIVE
The ancestry places Shamin between two named generations rather than describing an extended account of his reign. Above him stand the earlier Shura and Viduratha; below him come Pratikshatra, Svayambhoja and Hridika. Hridika’s son Devamidhusha later fathers another Shura. That later king is Vasudeva’s father. Shamin’s father and the father of Vasudeva are therefore different men with the same name.

TRADITION & MEANING
Shura as father and Pratikshatra as son identify this Shamin. A similar name elsewhere does not establish the same person. The surviving family record does not supply a separate detailed account of his reign.
