About Prachinvat
Prachinvat is the son of the earlier Janamejaya and the father of Pravira. Janamejaya is identified as Puru’s son in this account, so Prachinvat is Puru’s grandson. Manasyu follows Pravira, carrying the branch beyond the first generations of the Paurava house.

ROLE & ESSENCE
Attributes & Significance
Prachinvat gives the genealogy continuity between Puru’s immediate family and the generations leading to Bharata. His name keeps a real intermediate person visible rather than treating the later royal house as a single undifferentiated family.
TRADITION & MEANING
Traditions & Interpretations
The early Paurava Janamejaya who is his father is distinct from Parikshit’s son. That distinction also prevents Prachinvat from being placed after the Mahabharata war.
