Recorded Context

A Marriage After the Contest

The preceding episode explains why the wedding is being arranged. Ganesha and Kartikeya are asked to circle the earth; Ganesha worships his parents and circles them, explaining that this fulfills the spiritual purpose of the journey. His parents accept his reasoning and agree to celebrate his marriage.

The Family Connection

Vishvarupa’s daughters become Ganesha’s wives. Siddhi later bears Kshema, while Buddhi bears Labha. Vishvarupa is consequently the maternal grandfather of these two children, connecting their branch of the family to the marriage described here.

ROLE & ESSENCE

Attributes & Significance

His importance in this episode is genealogical: the named father connects Siddhi and Buddhi to the larger divine household. The account identifies the relationship without supplying an independent cycle of adventures.
