Puranic / Epic Royal Genealogy · Yadava Royal House
Shura is an early Yadava ancestor, the son of Viduratha and father of Shamin. He belongs to an older generation than the Shura who marries Marisha and fathers Vasudeva and Pritha.
Original Suvarnaveda painted interpretationTHE LIVING ARCHIVE
His ancestry passes through Bhajamana to Andhaka and Satvata. His descendants continue through Shamin, Pratikshatra, Svayambhoja and Hridika, followed by Hridika’s son Devamidhusha. Only after these generations does another Shura appear. Both men belong to the wider Yadava family, but the marriage to Marisha and the household of Vasudeva belong to the later king, not to Viduratha’s son.

ROLE & ESSENCE
Shura’s immediate family position joins Viduratha to Shamin. His descendants carry that line toward two major epic households: Krishna’s family through Vasudeva and the Pandavas’ maternal family through Pritha.
TRADITION & MEANING
The two men named Shura are distinguished by parentage: Viduratha fathers this earlier ancestor, while Devamidhusha fathers the later king. Stories about the later household should remain attached to that generation.
