About Nila
Ajamidha belongs to the family descending from Hastin, the founder of Hastinapura. Through Nilini he has Nila, whose son is Shanti. The line continues through Sushanti, Purujanu and Chakshu to Haryashva, the father of the five brothers associated with the Panchala name.

ROLE & ESSENCE
Attributes & Significance
The Panchala and Kuru houses share older Paurava ancestry. Nila’s line leads toward Panchala, while Ajamidha’s other branch passes through Riksha and Samvarana to Kuru. This is why the two later royal houses are related without Panchala descending from Shantanu’s immediate household.
TRADITION & MEANING
Traditions & Interpretations
This human ancestor is distinct from the Vanara Nila of Rama’s army and from later warriors who share the same name. Nilini, Ajamidha and Shanti identify the particular person meant here.
