About Kuruvatsa
Kuruvatsa’s grandfather is the royal Madhu, whose father is Devakshatra. Farther back, his ancestors descend from Kratha and Vidarbha through Kroshtu’s branch of Yadu’s family. He belongs to the generations before Satvata’s household divides into several branches. Despite the resemblance between the names, this Yadava ancestor is separate from Kuru, the royal ancestor associated with the Kuru dynasty and Kurukshetra.

ROLE & ESSENCE
Attributes & Significance
His descendants include Puruhotra and Anshu before the line reaches Satvata. The Andhaka and Vrishni houses emerge from Satvata’s sons, making Kuruvatsa part of their older common ancestry. The genealogy connects these later houses through named generations rather than treating their clan names as separate origins.
Role
Kuruvatsa is a Yadava ancestor, son of Anavaratha and father of Anuratha. He appears in the succession after Madhu and before the generations that reach Satvata.
TRADITION & MEANING
Traditions & Interpretations
Kuruvatsa belongs to the Yadava succession. The sacred-field story associated with Kuru and Kurukshetra is not an episode in this ancestor’s life.
