About Devarata
Devarata’s family belongs to the royal descent from Vidarbha through his son Kratha. This is one branch of the larger Yadava family, whose members trace their ancestry to Yadu. Karambhi’s father is the Yadava Shakuni, and the preceding generations include Dasharatha and Navaratha. These ancestors belong to the same family sequence; they are not the Ayodhya and Gandhara figures better known from the epics.

ROLE & ESSENCE
Attributes & Significance
Devarata stands in the ancestry of the royal Madhu and the later Satvata houses. The genealogy explains their shared descent over several generations, connecting the later Yadava branches to Vidarbha’s family rather than beginning their history with Krishna’s immediate relatives.
Role
Devarata is a Yadava ancestor, the son of Karambhi and the father of Devakshatra. He belongs to the Kroshtu branch of Yadu’s descendants, in the succession before the royal Madhu and Satvata.
TRADITION & MEANING
Traditions & Interpretations
A similarly named Devarata also appears in the royal family of Videha. This profile follows the Yadava ancestor identified by Karambhi and Devakshatra, whose family is separate from that Mithila succession.
